Everyone knows November 22nd, aka Thanksgiving Eve, is one of the biggest party nights of the year. Rightfully so with basically the entire country having the next day off. So what better way to kick off the long weekend than at First Avenue’s 7th Street Entry with some kick-ass live music.
The Entry is set to host three great up & coming acts on Wednesday, 11/22 – Joywave, Maybird and The Aces. Their stop in Minneapolis is just one of many stops on Joywave’s THANKS, THANKS FOR COMING 2017 TOUR. Tickets are already SOLD-OUT but stay tuned to First Ave’s Twitter & Social Media Channels as some additional tickets may be released closer to the show.
Headlining the tour is Rochester, NY-based Joywave. This quintet has been making waves in the illusive world of indie-pop, grabbing coveted spots opening for the likes of Young the Giant and Cold War Kids. This fall tour comes in support of their latest album Content which was released earlier this summer via Hollywood Records/Cultco Music. They’ve hit a sweet spot on this album, especially shimmering tracks like the title track Content and It’s A Trip!
Supporting Joywave on tour is fellow New Yorkers, Maybird. This stop in Minneapolis for Maybird is in support of their new EP Unraveling which was released this summer via Danger Mouse’s label 30th Century Records. Working his magic on this EP was The Black Keys’ Patrick Carney. Carney along with Maybird frontman Josh Netsky effortlessly fuse expansive psychedelia with evocative roots rock accents.
Rounding out the tour is Provost, Utah-natives The Aces. This four-piece is slated to become one of the biggest names in indie-pop music with their infectiously catchy, shimmering indie-pop tracks like Stuck and Physical. The all-female group has been drawing comparisons to reigning indie-pop darlings Haim, but The Aces are in a league of their own. They are touring in support of their EP I Don’t Like Being Honest, out now via Red Bull Records.
