Female Fronted Band from Decatur, Illinois!!

Anyone who is a fan of Icon For Hire is now singing that song.  If you don’t understand the above line, you should really do yourself a favor and go see and Icon For Hire show!  At any rate, Icon For Hire made a stop at The Garage in Burnsville, MN on their “You Can’t Kill Us” Tour.  It was a relatively early show, but the venue was pretty packed when I finally got there.  By the way, if you are trying to find The Garage, it is around the back of a circular builiding.  Maybe I was just a little road weary, but I had a tough time finding the place!  Unfortunately, there was only two bands mentioned in the event, so I missed the opening band completely.  I did hear the last song as I was getting in and setting up my gear and it was pretty cool.  The place was packed with people that were ready for a great show.

After a stage change, Stitched Up Heart took the stage.  I’ve seen them a few times in the past and they always are entertaining.  What else would you expect from a band that loves to help kitties?!?  I love the amount of energy they have on stage and it’s fun to watch Mixi’s sway back and forth while she sings.  She even went out crowd surfing for a bit in the middle of the set.  After the show, the band could be found by their merch booth meeting fans to talk and give hugs.  Stitched Up Heart still has quite a few tour dates in the near future, so head over and check their Facebook page to see if they will be near you!

Icon For Hire was set to take the stage next and as soon as they took the stage, the entire place exploded with all the energy from the crowd.  This was the first Icon For Hire show for me and I was pretty excited to see them live after listening to a few of their songs online.  My daughter first got me hooked on Icon’s music a few months ago, and I have been looking forward to seeing their show ever since.  The crowd interactions were really cool.  The singer would talk to everyone in between the songs and get them excited for the next one.  There was a few mic issues, but she had the house lights turned up and had a conversation with everyone while the issues were fixed.  The song list included a good mix of Icon For Hire’s 3 albums.  During the performance of one of their more recent releases, “Now You Know”, the band brought up a few girls to sing with them.  I’m sure that was a memorable show for them!  Be sure to check out Icon For Hire if they stop in your area!

Another great show in the books!  As always, get out and support live music and I’ll see you out there!
