Glass Animals at First Avenue 6/4/2015

Oxford, UK’s Glass Animals has been tearing up playlists on alternative and college stations. Their US tour, which has seen a few changes to larger venues, came to First Avenue Thursday evening. The band The quartet (made up of Dave Bayley, Drew MacFarlane, Edmund Irwin-Singer, Joe Seaward) released its first studio album Zaba in June 2014. Their stage setup is quite funky with baloons reminiscent of Martini Glasses or Mushrooms (you decide) lining the stage.

Glass Animals’ set started with “Black Mambo” and engaged their fans from the first few beats. Singer Dave Barley’s stage presence is quite good and his at times quirky dance moves are fun to watch. The band kept the energy high and one of the highlights was a cover of Kanye’s Love Lockdown.
