There are times when being a clueless reporter is rewarding. Such was the case Sunday night, when I found out about FEA. I went to the Amsterdamn to cover Bruise Violet and decided to stick around for the main band knowing next to nothing about them.
Turns out FEA is a side project of San Antonio punk trio started by drummer Phanie Diaz and bass player Jenn Alva. Rounded out by singer Letty and guitarist Aaron Lee Magana they are touring the US. Turnout was light (maybe local punk fans were scared to sparkles from the nearby Taylor Swift show), but that did not stop FEA from playing their hearts out.
FEA describe themselves as “riot punk grrl band” with a Tex-Mex influence. Their sound is raw, hard and fast – just the way I like my punk.
