Chase Atlantic will be bringing their Beauty in Death North America Tour to The Fillmore on Saturday, October 2nd and you don’t want to miss it!
Although new to my radar, Chase Atlantic quickly became a favorite of mine during shut-down.
While Australia has produced plenty of incredible, genre-busting bands, few are as defiantly chameleonic as Chase Atlantic. The youthful trio—Christian Anthony and brothers Clinton and Mitchel Cave—are obviously fond of the sleek R&B-pop originating in Canada (think Drake and The Weeknd) as well as glitchy modern U.S. hip-hop. But the group’s 2017 self-titled debut also alights on rakish ’80s soul-pop, One Direction-style power pop, and even incandescent slow jams.
Not even many seasoned groups can handle so much genre hopscotching, although the members of Chase Atlantic are no strangers to exceeding expectations. Prior to coalescing in the band, the young Cave brothers were avid YouTube performers known for their uploads of covers by acts such as Bruno Mars, Owl City, and Ed Sheeran. Anthony and Mitchel Cave were also in a quintet called What About Tonight, which gained notoriety after appearing on “X Factor Australia” and being praised by One Direction on the show.
