On July 28th, 2019 the MN Zoo animals (and guests) will get to settle in and hear the great singer/songwriter/rocker, Conor Oberst. The man is such a respected song writer that he even took the top spot of Rolling Stone Magazines Best Song Writers of 2008. Oberst is known for having his finger in many different sorts of music from folk, to rock, to pop and more. He is actually associated with a dozen acts in total. His two most well known acts are, Desaparecidos and of course Bright Eyes. The Bright Eyes album “I’m Wide Awake, It’s Morning” received high praise and made the song “First Day of my Life” off that album an anthem for people everywhere.Opening for Oberst is, Joanna Sternberg. Sternberg is from NYC born and raised. At a young age their parents found out they were incredibly musically talented and pushed them through piano lessons as they learned how to play bass and guitar on their own. As it says on their website, they don’t like to use genres to describe their music, a fair and valiant way to be able to create whatever you want to create. However, they do use a good amount of acoustic instruments which is never a bad choice. Sternberg also just released their first album called “Then I Try Some More” and it is available on all major music platforms.
