Everyone’s favorite local horror band Impaler will be commanding the stage on Saturday, September 1st at First Avenue. If you have yet to see this legendary local group, this is a can’t miss show (unless you plan on going to Taylor Swift instead but I bet I’m the only one having an inner battle over what show to see between those too).

Impaler has a theatrical show which features fake blood, cages, coffins, latex severed heads and a finale that includes a mock disemboweling of victims. Impaler recorded demo tapes which caught the ear of Important Record Distributors and lead to the band being signed to the in-house labels IRD Records and Combat Records. They released two records with these labels, the first being the Rise Of The Mutants EP (1985), which caused much controversy with Tipper Gore and her P.M.R.C. organization. The record cover was also used as a prop in the cult horror movie Trick or Treat.

Heavy/power metal band The Regime, from St. Paul, Minnesota, will be opening up the show alongside Kublai Khan-American thrash metal band from Minneapolis, Minnesota formed in 1984, disbanded in 1988, and reunited in 2003.

Dare Force will also be opening the show.  Dare Force is a legendary hard rock/heavy metal band that was initially formed in Minneapolis in the late 1970s. Dare Force released three albums in the 1980s, and performed in concert with numerous national acts such as KISS, Ted Nugent, Triumph, Kansas, UFO, the Joe Perry Project, and Ratt, as well as headlining in venues throughout the US, Canada, Puerto Rico, and Venezuela. Dare Force also had several songs that received heavy airplay on rock radio stations throughout the midwestern US in the 1980s.

Dare Force released its third CD, Firepower, with a reformed version of the band in 1989. The original lineup performed occasional reunion gigs after the original version of the band ended in 1987, but stopped performing live after their last reunion show in 2002. Today Dare Force features a new lineup of four eminent veterans of the Twin Cities hard rock/heavy metal scene, who have merged their songwriting and live performance talents to create an incendiary musical force.
