It’s super fun seeing all of these huge touring acts announcing shows in town but I think I’m more excited for all of the amazing local shows being announced. One that I am especially looking forward to is The Current’s sponsored Gully Boys show at The Fine Line on Saturday, July 31st!

Born from passion, Kathy, Nadirah, and Natalie make up the Minneapolis 3-piece that Gully Boys is today. Gully Boys’ melodic tunes and raw lyrics make it hard to believe that in 2016, none of them knew how to play their instruments. Drawing inspiration from a multitude of musical backgrounds, Gully Boys transcends genre. Through hard work, diligent practice, and fresh enthusiasm, Gully Boys released their first LP, Not So Brave, on August 12, 2018 and later won City Pages’ Picked to Click 2018: Minnesota’s Best New Band.

VIAL was a band that I was just getting into pre-pandemic so I am super excited that they are joining Gully Boys on this show! VIAL is a Minneapolis-based band of students focused on activism in diversity and inclusion in the music scene. Their punk songs with pop prowesses explore the aspects of looming adulthood and gender dynamics. VIAL is proudly femme in a scene inundated by masculine acts and is known to serve “sassy punk uppercuts to put you in your place” (Natalie Fideler). Comprised of KT Branscom on vocals and guitar, Kate Kanfield on vocals and bass, Taylor Kraemer on vocals and keytar, and Katie Fischer on vocals and drums.

Bugsy will also be joining in on the fun! Bugsy is an indie-pop quartet with flowery flourishes and emo highlights. Strong suits include harmonies vocal and instrumental counterplay but not exclusive too. They are fond of animals and are based in Minneapolis

Dad Bod gets things started right away so get there early! Dad Bod is a Minneapolis-based band comprised of members Callie Marino, Wilson Zellar, Noah Topliff, and Alex Gray. Rooted in Marino’s vulnerable lyricism and dreamy guitar, the full band adds stabs of shoegaze and distortion, expanding their unique sound. Since the release of their debut single “Rot” in 2019, they have gained a strong local following that led to their signing with No Sleep Records in 2021. They are currently recording their debut LP set to release this fall.
