Twin Cities quintet Fox & Coyote has created a sound all their own, straddling the line between indie rock power and nu-folk insight. They showcase tightly-knit songs, full of finely crafted riffs and hooks, enthralling vocal harmonies, and earnest lyricism.
Fox & Coyote’s “Scattered Shadows on a Double Bed” is a sonic panorama – juxtaposing hushed confessions with raging guitar solos, thick cello crescendos with existential howls. Lyrically, the songs are self-critical, romantic, anxious, and sincere. Fox & Coyote is Ryan Evans (lead vocals, guitar), Jonathan Harms (lead vocals, banjo), Katherine Canon (cello, vocals), Grant Gordon (upright bass, electric bass), and Kenny Befus (drums). Ryan and Jonathan act as co-directors, pushing the band beyond what listeners expect from a guitar-banjo songwriting duo.
