The British Invasion came roaring across the prairie, hit the Mississippi, took a wrong turn and found itself in………….Maplewood? Surprising as that may be Maplewood’s Myth is actually a great venue for rock shows, the staff is friendly, it has a quite nice section that is wheelchair accessible and the sound and light system is good as well.

First up was metalcore band While She Sleeps. The 5 member band form Sheffield has been working on the follow up to 2015’s Brainwashed. Their set was energetic with singer “Loz” Taylor trying hard to bridge the wide gap of the venue’s pit. At one point they go the audience to join in a shout out to an US friend: “F…. you, Trav!”

Asking Alexandria recently changed singers and new front man Denis Stoff has outstanding stage presence. Their entrance was dramatic with band members coming on stage one by one before blasting the crowd with light and music. They played the just released “The Black” from their upcoming album and engage the audience in a hunker down / jump up exercise.
Set List: I Won’t Give In \ Run Free \ The Death of Me \ Closure \ To the Stage \ The Black \ Not the American Average \ A Prophecy \ The Final Episode

Headliner Bullet for My Valentine set the mood by playing Motherhead’s “Ace of Spades” The first 3 songs came a fast pace before front man Matt Tuck greeted the crowd. With their regular drummer sitting out this tour Jason Bowld filled his place quite nicely. The band played material from their current album “Venom” Overall fans of the genre had a great evening.
