Austin, TX based guitar slinger Joe Lewis and band hit the Twin Cities next week as part of his fall 2018 tour.  Tickets and show details can be found HERE.

If somebody was smart enough to place a toll both along the I 35 corridor between Minneapolis and Austin, TX to pick on artists making that run, they could get rich.  Lately, the city that claims the title of “Live Music Capital of the World” has been sending us some primo acts.  Within the past few weeks we have hosted Gary Clark, Jr., Dave Alvin’s band The Guilty Ones and last week’s Israel Nash.  We are all the richer for it.

Black Joe Lewis is touring in support of his September 17 release and 5th studio album The Difference Between You and Me.  The Difference features more of the band’s genre bending mix of gritty blues, funk, soul and old school rock and roll.  The album was completed under the guiding hand of decorated producer Stuart Sikes (The White Stripes, Cat Power and Modest Mouse).  This effort is a more reflective, observational and lyrically focused album than previous albums.  After ten years on the road, it is not only a rumination on our current culture, it’s a look in the mirror asking some hard personal questions.

For those who packed the Surly Festival Grounds for Gary Clark, Jr and need a second dose, don’t miss Black Joe Lewis & The Honey Bears.

Opening for Lewis will be Chicago’s Paul Cherry.  Another artist with little regard for sonic boundaries.  This former garage rocker is set to release his new album Flavour.  It has been described as sitting at the junction of yacht rock and Ariel Pink’s lo-fi dream pop.
