What better way to spend your Saturday night than to head to the Varsity Theater on December 22nd for BAND AID 2018: A Benefit For Ryan Anhorn.  It is always so special when the local music community comes together and uses their God-given abilities to hold a fundraising concert to help one of their own.   It will be a unique night of fun and for a great cause.  Please help pack the house for this special night. Here is more information about the event and the evening’s line-up:

Ryan Anhorn: to know him is to love him. This past July, Ryan was in an unfortunate motorcycle accident and although Ryan’s mind and spirit are sound, his body sustained a great deal of trauma. After a lengthily hospital stay, Ryan is back upright but is still being bogged down by the monetary cost of the accident. Ryan’s friends and family decided to get together and plan out one hell of a rocking benefit concert to raise money for Ryan to help him heal.

The show will feature sets from bands: Al Church, White Light Riot (Reunion), 4onthefloor, Viva Knievel and DJ sets from Har Mar Superstar, Solid Gold and DJ Stepmom. There will also be one-of-a-kind screen printed posters for sale by artist Brent Schoonover as well as a silent auction and raffle featuring gift cards and goods from local bars, restaurants, breweries and distilleries; ticket packages from Live Nation and all kinds of local goods and services. All ticket proceeds, auction proceeds and raffle proceeds will go to Ryan’s Benefit Fund. Let’s raise a glass to raising cash! Get your tickets now!

VIVA KNIEVEL (Featuring Ryan Anhorn)

A cover band that defies gravity. With no fear of broken bones or loss of limb, we take the stage and attempt feats that seem impossible.
Viva Knievel is an 8-to-100 piece fearless American wrecking ball. Featuring former members of National Recording Artists, White Light Riot (50 Entertainment/Sony RedDistribution) and Mainstream (Meeeh Records), Viva Knievel boasts chaotic stage shows, salute-inducing patriotism, face-melting guitar solos and earth-rumbling renditions of all your favorite songs that other bands are too afraid to play. We like to take our audiences on a daredevil flight through the decades. We first concentrate on the songs that brought groove and swagger, Marshall’s and Vistalites, big hair and bigger songs to the masses. Then, we show you what we’re really made of. Featuring a full horn-section, Viva Knievel gets down on it and delivers some of the best renditions of funk and soul your step-dad has ever heard. When you regain consciousness, we’ll launch into modern mode and deliver all of your favorite contemporary hits with such a fervor and perfection, you’ll swear you’re dreaming. Well, you’re not. You’re witnessing the spectacle that is: Viva Knievel. You’re welcome.

THE 4ONTHEFLOOR

“This is Rock’n’Roll in the 21st century.”
Joining together in the name of fun & joy, the 4onthefloor bring their well-oiled, high-octane, rock’n’roll to the world with an immediacy rarely seen on stage in the 21st century. The furious delivery ebbs and flows with sing-a-long anthems and breakdowns to soaring guitar solos and unbridled full-bore rock. Camaraderie is a common theme, and stompers are finding like-minded rock’n’rollers at every show.
Hailing from Minnesota, they take the heavy road route, grooving in the tracks of so many rubber to the road musicians before them. Following in the footsteps of some of the band’s influences, being on the road plays a large role in the writing. The merriment must come from all angles, including the stage for a memorable show and the 4onthefloor BRING IT. Douglas writes about experiences, failures, successes, and not-so-much the what-could-have-beens. Life is for the living and this is the soundtrack to a life well-lived. Keep the fire in your eyes.

WHITE LIGHT RIOT

White Light Riot is an American indie rock group based in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Members include brothers Mike Schwandt (vocals, rhythm guitar) and Mark Schwandt (drums), Dan Larsen (bass), Randy Tomes (Keyboards) and Zack Caroll (Guitar). They are dusting off some old songs to reunite for the show.

AL CHURCH

Minneapolis musician Al Church will be performing as well.
