The one and only Authority Zero will be making at stop at the Varsity Theater on Tuesday, September 25th. Authority Zero is an American punk rock band from Mesa, Arizona formed in 1994. The band’s style is rooted in reggae and skate punk, with Spanish/Portuguese influences. They have released six albums to date and two DVDs. Authority Zero has been on the grind for years and it seems like they are constantly touring across the world. I’ve only been able to catch them twice but I’ve been craving a third chance since the last time I saw them. Their energetic live show mixed with their truly unique yet upbeat music leads to a night to a remember. I’ll surely be dragging some friends along to this show and hope you do the same.
Opening up the show will be Runaway Kids. When you think of punk rock from the 80’s and 90’s, the bands were not only playing their instruments fast and aggressively, there was also a message that built a rugged community that united and fought against the social ills that faced them every day – politicians, naysayers, absentee family members. It was so much more than what came out of the P.A. system. It was all about the people.
Kicking off the night will be In the Whale.
