The heavy stomping blues rock of 4onthefloor returns to Minneapolis at the Varsity Theater on Friday, where the band will celebrate the release of its fifth studio album titled The North Remembers. Fans of the Minneapolis based rock group can expect the familiar thumping bass drums, crunchy guitar riffs and breakdowns of the band’s self described “well oiled high-octane rock’n’roll” sound.
4onthefloor creatively incorporates the number four into much of what they do: Each member of the four-piece act plays a kick drum, all of their songs are written in 4/4 time, and their popularity grew after the release of their debut studio album in 2011, aptly titled 4×4. They also take pride in hailing from Minnesota and define their stage show through audience interaction, displaying enough energy and northern pride to move a room full of Minnesotans – Now that’s saying something.
